Fair Oaks EcoHousing  A family-friendly green neighborhood

The Sacramento Area offers exceptional affordability in comparison with the Bay Area or Silicon Valley. Instead of congestion and heavy traffic, Fair Oaks features a semi-rural and suburban community with a population of about 31,000, located 18 miles from downtown Sacramento.

Fair Oaks Village:  Fair Oaks has a small town feel and a lively arts scene. Located in Old Fair Oaks Village, the town center houses the Plaza Park Amphitheater, where residents look forward to the yearly Fair Oaks Theater Festival. A not-to-miss event, the annual Chicken Festival draws young and old alike. Every year in December, our town shows its festive side with Christmas in the Village. In May, Fair Oaks Fiesta Days feature family-friendly events that promote community during this “Spring Festival.”

Trader Joe's, Raley's, Costco, Whole Foods, great restaurants, theaters, music, colleges and schools are all nearby (see map below).   There are two convenient Farmers Markets, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Smokey Oaks Tavern, with great food and drinks, and G&G Food & Liquor, a convenience store, are located right next to our site, at 9634 Fair Oaks Blvd.

American River Parkway:  Just half a mile away to the South is the beautiful American River, bordered by the American River Parkway bike path: a 32 mile, 4900 acre expanse of land and water deemed the "jewel of Sacramento" that runs from Old Sacramento to Folsom Dam. (And yes, there are community members who plan on commuting by bike!)

Home to over one hundred twenty-five acres of parkland, green space is celebrated locally. Winters are mild here. Being located on the eastern side of the valley provides easy access to the Sierra Foothills, with ample opportunities for hiking, skiing, rafting and kayaking. View site maps here.

Telecommuters:  For those living outside of town, telecommuters can take Amtrak from Sacramento to Emeryville (90 minutes), San Francisco (2 hours) or Santa Clara (under 3 hours) on their in-office days. With WiFi and hot coffee on the train, these can be comfortable and productive trips.

Brand new homes in Fair Oaks EcoHousing will range from the low 300's for a two-bedroom to the high 500’s for a four-bedroom townhome – in contrast to the $1 million starter home price tag common in the Bay Area. You can learn more about home layouts and our building plans here.
